FIESTA LIKE THERE IS NO MAÑANA

Happy Cinco de Mayo!  Even though it’s Monday, everyone here at ICEBOX plans to celebrate this festive holiday accordingly. Below we shared our method for creating a full-on margarita bar that will keep you and your guests entertained all night!

MARGARITA BAR

For the Table… Provide buckets of ice, shakers, glasses and a plate of salt for rimming.

Write out different recipe ideas on chalkboards for guests to follow.

THE NECESSITIES

Tequilas: Blanco, Resposado, Anejo

Liqueurs: Cointreau, Grand Marnier

The Original Margarita

3 parts White Tequila

2 parts Cointreau

1 part Fresh Lime Juice

Simple Syrup

1 part Water

1 part Sugar

 METHOD

Simmer water and sugar over high heat until the sugar has dissolved completely and chill

THE ACCESSORIES

Pineapple-Jalapeno: Blend fresh pineapple chunks with seeded jalapeno and simple syrup until the combination purees

Lime-Ginger: Simmer simple syrup with ginger slices and add lime juice right before cooling. Set in the refrigerator overnight and add slices of fresh lime before serving.

 Juices: Orange, Grapefruit, Pomegranate, Pear, Mango

Garnishes: Limes, Berries, Jalapeno Peppers, Oranges, Pineapple

 

 

 

THE BOATS ARE BACK IN TOWN

The Charleston In-Water Boat Show is taking over the Bristol Marina and Brittlebank Park this weekend and launches Friday at noon! With the region’s major boat dealers and show-only prices on a variety of boats, the Charleston In-Water Boat Show is considered a “Boat Lover’s Paradise.”

There are plenty of activities to keep the family occupied throughout the weekend including shopping, a fishing tank for the kids and THE ICEBOX BAR of course! Stop by and grab a drink to Sip, Savor and Enjoy while exploring the show, see you there!

Whether you are a Denver Broncos Fan or a Seattle Seahawks fan we have shared two super bowl inspired cocktails this week for you to Sip and Savor throughout game day by bringing a bit of ICEBOX to your living room!

“THE BRONCTAIL”

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 oz Lemon or Lime Sparkling Water
  • 1 1/2 oz Vodka
  • 1 oz Triple Sec
  • 1 oz Orange Juice
  • Fresh Blueberries
  • Orange Slices

METHOD

Mix vodka, triple sec and orange juice together. Pour over ice. Top with sparkling water and garnish with orange slices & blueberries.

“SEATTLE MANHATTEN”

Did you know that Seattle locals drink more coffee than any other city in America?!

  • 2-3 oz of Top Shelf Whiskey or Bourbon
  • 1-2 oz of Coffee Liqueur
  • 1/2 oz of Kahlua
  • 1/2 oz of Sweet Vermouth
  • A Martini Shaker & Glass
  • A few Espresso or Coffee Beans

And if your team did not make it as far as the Broncos or Seahawks, and drinking their inspired cocktails just does not seem right, then make your own BLOODY MARY BAR with unique garnishes to keep you and your guests entertained!

  • 3 cups Charleston Bloody Mary Mix
  • Recommended Garnishes & Selections: Celery Stalks, Dill Pickle Spears, Olives, Cooked Bacon, Okra, Lemon, Lime, Sea Salt & Spiced Rimmer

Charleston Affair 2013

On May 4th the staff of ICEBOX was pleased to be apart of The College of Charleston’s annual Charleston Affair located in the College’s Cistern Yard. With 60+ talented Bartenders and Event Managers onsite, the night was filled with nothing but sweet southern charm! Guests enjoyed a plethora of beer and wine selections, however, the highlight of the night was the featured Strawberry Mint Sangria!

Special thanks to JMC Charleston, Event DRS and Haus Tents for making the event one to remember. We are already looking forward to next year, and we hope that you are too!

Charleston Fashion Week alumna Emily Bargeron of Mamie Ruth and eyewear designer to celebrities like Lady Gaga, Stevie Boi will headline an intersection of fashion and culture at NOIR, Thursday March 21st at Venue 549.

Organized by Charleston After Dark and ICEBOX BAR, the creators of numerous stylish events, such as RAIN, LUXE and most recently the New Years Eve Rose Ball, NOIR will feature local talent with some special out-of-town guests. DJ Cato K from Miami will headline this fab fashion event, just as he did at LUXE for Charleston After Dark in 2011. Opening sets by local DJ’s Jake B and DJ Y-Not will keep the fashionistas moving as they gaze at a Fashion Presentation by Emily Bargeron of Mamie Ruth. Charleston’s very on Dance FX dancers, will be dancing the night away wearing the latest fashions by Designer Stevie Boi, himself, who will be presenting at his first fashion event in the Holy City. NOIR will combine the best of fashionistas, fashion, music and entertainment, into four hours of excitement from 10 p.m. until 2 a.m. at the new and upscale Five Four Nine venue located at 549 E Bay Street.

In addition, Vocalist Quiana Parler of the popular Quiana Parler & Friends, and Carmen Esteves will be performing throughout the night. Parler has worked with the likes of Clay Aiken, Keith Sweat and Kelly Clarkson.
